Are there scholarships for short-term training in Australia?

  • Short-term training opportunities are available under the Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships (ALAF) for mid-career professionals and leaders from Vietnam and other countries.
     
  • The ALAF provide opportunities for professional development through study, research and attachment programs in Australia, delivered by Australian organizations, to nominated Vietnamese.
  • The ALAF aim to develop leadership, address priority development issues and build partnerships and linkages between Australian organizations and Vietnamese partner organizations.
     
  • A sponsoring Australian host organization must submit the application nominating Vietnamese  individuals and organizations.
     
  • Examples of eligible Australian organisations include NGOs, academic institutions, research organizations, business, industry, media, professional associations and Government agencies.
  • Since 2007 around 400 Vietnamese have benefited from the ALAF scheme including:
    • 25 senior government officials trained in public sector management
    • 100 medical professionals trained in health management and services
    • 28 officials and academics trained in water resources management
    • 10 government officials trained in promoting women’s safety and child protection
    • 36 government officials trained in improved land management
