Are there scholarships for short-term training in Australia?

Short-term training opportunities are available under the Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships (ALAF) for mid-career professionals and leaders from Vietnam and other countries.

The ALAF provide opportunities for professional development through study, research and attachment programs in Australia, delivered by Australian organizations, to nominated Vietnamese.

The ALAF aim to develop leadership, address priority development issues and build partnerships and linkages between Australian organizations and Vietnamese partner organizations.

A sponsoring Australian host organization must submit the application nominating Vietnamese individuals and organizations.

Examples of eligible Australian organisations include NGOs, academic institutions, research organizations, business, industry, media, professional associations and Government agencies.

Since 2007 around 400 Vietnamese have benefited from the ALAF scheme including:

25 senior government officials trained in public sector management

100 medical professionals trained in health management and services
-
28 officials and academics trained in water resources management
-
10 government officials trained in promoting women’s safety and child protection

36 government officials trained in improved land management
